  4. - delete your old dvpeg.cfg file and re-run vidsetup if you experience
  5.   problems or have a much older version of dvpeg.

  8. Vidsetup.exe
  9. ------------
  10. The video setup program must be run before you can use dvpeg.  It is used to
  11. select and test video modes and make a list of the working modes for dvpeg to
  12. use.
  13.   When the program starts up it will detect what type of video card you have
  14. and automatically enter all of the modes for that card in the user list.  You
  15. should find the hi-lighted card on the video card that is in your system.
  16.   To test a video mode move to the card you want to test (up/down arrows) and
  17. then hit <enter>. This will put you onto the upper right window where you can
  18. pick from the list of video modes that that card should support.  With the
  19. up/down arrow move to the video mode that you want to test and hit space.  You
  20. should see a series of vertical bars that fade in color as they go from left
  21. to right.  If you can not see the bars or the image is junk then dvpeg will
  22. not work with that mode.
  23.  When you find what card/mode combo's work with your system you can enter it
  24. into the list by hitting <insert> when you are in the upper right mode menu.
  25. To delete an item from the list hit enter until you get to the lower right
  26. user list menu.  With the up/down arrow move to the mode you want to delete
  27. and hit <delete>.
  28.   <enter> will move you "deeper" into the menu's while <escape> will more you
  29. back out.  When you are at the video card menu and you hit <escape> you will
  30. exit the video setup program.
  31.   At this point it will ask you if you want to save the information.  If you
  32. have correctly made a list of working modes for your system then hit <y> and
  33. the file dvpeg.cfg will be created for dvpeg to use.  It contains the list of
  34. working modes and a few other things (future features).
  35.   I hope that this makes sense and is easy to use.  There are a lot of features
  36. to work on.

  41. This is a 286 version of dvpeg. It is slower but otherwise identical to the
  42. 386 version.

  49.   Advanced features
  50.   -----------------
  51.   You can save the tint, contrast, bright setting for automatic setting the
  52.   next time a file is loaded.  Use E to view the file instead of ENTER,
  53.   adjust the tint, bright, contast to your liking and hit S to save them.
  54.   To delete the settings for the picture you are viewing hit D.  These
  55.   settings are saved in the file dvpeg.vu

  60.   You will always see subdirectors in the file listing and can move thru the
  61.      directory tree by hitting enter when over a subdirectory or .. which will
  62.      move you out one level.
  63.   Enter: view the file
  64.   E or e: view file useing a 24 bit buffer for tint controls (used to adjust
  65.              tint controls for saving)
  66.   F2: change drive - just type a single letter  ie  d
  67.   F3: change viewing defaults (dithering, show menu, smoothing ...)
  68.   F4: change mask - type in *.gif, *.jpg ... (max. of 5 masks)
  69.   F5: change sort order (ie by name, file size, date ...)
  70.   F6: type in a new directory
  71.   F7: change some less frequently used defaults
  72.   Home:  goto the top of the file list
  73.   End:   goto the end of the file list
  74.   space: select a file for slideshow viewing
  75.   A:  select all files for slide show
  76.   s:  start slideshow
  77.   S:  run slideshow in a continous loop (any key exits, ESC exits immed.)
  78.   Del:  deletes the file that the cursor is on

  83.   F1: help - check this since it will be more accurate than this list
  84.   E: turn off end of picture beep
  85.   G: greyscale viewing of JPEGs (faster than color)
  86.   S: enable shrinking of the picture to fit (only works when panning is off)
  87.   D: toggle dithering on/off
  88.   B: toggle cross block smoothing (this one uses lots of memory and you may
  89.          have to turn it off to view really big pictures)
  90.   Q: toggle between 1 or 2 pass quantization
  91.   P: toggle panning on/off if the picture needs it (this can take several megs
  92.          of memory [main or disk])
  93.   arrows: select a video mode (default should be the right size)
  94.   ESC: exit to pick another file

  107.   Shift (keypad) 7,4,1 adjust red tint (increase, reset, decrease)

  110.   F1 ... F10 multiply all panning and color controls ie F2 is *2, F8 is *8
  111.   S,s: save the bright, contrast, tint controls to be used next time this
  112.          picture is viewed
  113.   D,d: delete any stored tint ...  settings for this picture
  114.   R: re-init video mode and redraw with all tint controls reset
  115.   r: re-init video mode and redraw
  116.   P: goto the previous picture

  120.   Misc. comments

  122.   Hitting ESC will immediately exit from viewing a picture.
  123.   Hitting any other key will stop the slide show after the current picture
  124.      is loaded.
